All actresses MUST be available for ALL performances and EVERY NIGHT of Tech Week.
This is non-negotiable!
*This year, we will not be auditioning anyone under the age of 16 - thank you.
We REhearse & perform in a Diva-Free Zone.
SONG:
You should sing for no more than SIXTY SECONDS.
We will stop you after one minute.
Your audition will be a cappella. No accompanist will be provided.
Choose a song that best shows off your voice.
Try not to choose a song that is too low or too high for your vocal range so that you sound your best. Make sure you know the lyrics. It does not make a good impression if you arrive at your audition without a song prepared (this is a musical, after all!).
Sing with as much expression as possible; make eye contact with us; and enjoy yourself!
Please note: Your song choice should NOT be from Something Rotten!, but it should be a song from the world of musical theater, not pop or rock.
AUDITION SCENE:
Please choose one character in one scene to read at your audition. We don’t care if you trip over some of your words; just make sure you read with expression and character.
Scenes for Auditions:
1) Nick & Nigel
3) Bea & Nick
JAZZ DANCE COMBINATION:
Something Rotten! includes several large dance numbers. Everyone should learn this short jazz dance combination and video yourself.
OPTIONAL TAP Audition Dance
Something Rotten! includes several opportunities to tap dance! *NEW THIS YEAR: If you’d like to be in the Tap numbers, you must ALSO learn the tap combination.
CALL-BACKS: TUESDAY, MAY 26 via ZOOM - by invitation only.
If we loved your audition and would like to see you do more, you will receive an e-mail by 5/22 inviting you to participate in a Call-Back. You will receive a specific appointment time as well as a new scene to prepare. We will also ask you to learn part of a song or songs from Something Rotten!, which you can find on YouTube or itunes.
