JAZZ DANCE Audition Music
Tap Audition Music - faster
Tap Audition Music - slower

SONG:

You should sing for no more than SIXTY SECONDS.
We will stop you after one minute.

Your audition will be a cappella. No accompanist will be provided.

Choose a song that best shows off your voice.
Try not to choose a song that is too low or too high for your vocal range so that you sound your best. Make sure you know the lyrics. It does not make a good impression if you arrive at your audition without a song prepared (this is a musical, after all!).

Sing with as much expression as possible; make eye contact with us; and enjoy yourself!

Please note: Your song choice should NOT be from Something Rotten!, but it should be a song from the world of musical theater, not pop or rock.

AUDITION SCENE:

Please choose one character in one scene to read at your audition. We don’t care if you trip over some of your words; just make sure you read with expression and character.

Scenes for Auditions:

1) Nick & Nigel

2) Nick & Shylock

3) Bea & Nick

4) Nostradamus & Nick

5) Nigel & Portia

6) Shakespeare & Nick/Nigel

7) Brother Jeremiah Monologue

JAZZ DANCE COMBINATION:

Something Rotten! includes several large dance numbers. Everyone should learn this short jazz dance combination and video yourself.

OPTIONAL TAP Audition Dance

Something Rotten! includes several opportunities to tap dance! *NEW THIS YEAR: If you’d like to be in the Tap numbers, you must ALSO learn the tap combination.

CALL-BACKS: TUESDAY, APRIL 20, 2021 via ZOOM - by invitation only.
If we loved your audition and would like to see you do more, you will receive an e-mail by 4/16 inviting you to participate in a Call-Back. You will receive a specific appointment time as well as a new scene to prepare. We will also ask you to learn part of a song or songs from Something Rotten!, which you can find on YouTube or itunes.

JWRC policy regarding COVID-19 Vaccination

The health, welfare, and safety of our cast and crew are of utmost concern. In an effort to protect cast and crew members, as well as their families, the JWRC will require all members of the cast and crew to be fully vaccinated by the time we conduct in-person rehearsals.  Rare exceptions MAY be permitted—these will require a valid physician’s note and will be reviewed by the JWRC Board.  Vaccinated cast and crew members will be required to provide proof of vaccination.  All cast and crew members will be asked to review and attest to the JWRC COVID-19 vaccination policy.  Minors will be expected to be vaccinated as soon as it is approved and available for under-16 years of age. Failure to show proof of vaccination or approved medical exception will result in the cast member being re-cast.
